From the Past, Lies Our Future...

Following a dream is nothing new for Rallen and Phyllis Zeitner, founders of Zeitner & Sons Inc., refrigerated carriers in Omaha, Nebraska.   Rallen, already a driver with a wife and four sons, wanted a truck of his own.  In February, 1977, Rallen and his wife, Phyllis, invested in their first truck, and a dream was born.  In the following decade, the Zeitners built a fleet and eventually had 24 trucks, based at 30th & "W" Street, Omaha, Nebraska; leasing to carriers such as American Freight Systems, Overland Express and Nationwide Transportation.

Leasing to other carriers meant constant struggling to realize a profit, so on October 1, 1989,  the Zeitners obtained their own authority to operate in the contiguous United States.  Zeitner & Sons Inc. began as a small company with 10 trucks and a terminal at 4118 Dahlman Avenue, Omaha, Nebraska.   Within the next four years, the company fleet tripled in size, numbering in excess of thirty trucks and.  Then, in 1994, the purchase of Sunshine Freight Systems brought an additional ten trucks.  Size and new technology dictated that a new terminal be constructed to house their rapidly growing company.  The new, state-of-the-art facility, located at 5516 South 27th Street, Omaha, Nebraska, was completed in 1995.  At the start of the year 2000, the Zeitner fleet numbered fifty-four company-owned trucks and six owner-operators.

In a desire to better sell transportation services to a larger base of customers, Zeitner & Sons, Inc. purchased Mainliner Motor Express, effective September 1, 2000.  Mainliner, like Zeitner & Sons, has the reputation of being a carrier with customer service and on-time delivery, second to none.  The merging of the two truck lines increased the fleet by 38 company trucks and 12 owner-operators.

We've come a long way since that first truck was purchased in 1977.  A dream, a plan and hard-working, loyal employees have all contributed to the growth and continued success of Zeitner & Sons, Inc.
