Family Bytes It takes a very special person to be a professional truck driver. He/She must be ever-vigilant, driving hundreds of miles at a time, through inclement weather, road construction, heavy traffic situations, and trying to avoid the dangerous driving habits of automobile drivers. He/She must be away from home for days and sometimes weeks at a time, missing dance recitals, ball games, birthday parties, first dates, split lips, broken bones, high fevers, leaking roofs, broken pipes, clogged drains, home-cooked meals, the warmth of a loved one in bed at night, spontaneous hugs and kisses. It takes a very special person to be the spouse of a professional truck driver. He/She must be ever-vigilant, going alone to recitals, ball games, birthday parties, checking out new boyfriends, late nights lying awake waiting for the kids to come home, long hours waiting in emergency rooms alone, becoming an amateur plumber, carpenter and car mechanic. swallowing fear to check out strange noises in the dark, an empty chair at the dinner table, the warmth of a loved one in bed at night, spontaneous hugs and kisses. It takes a very special person to be the child of a professional truck driver. He/She must be ever-vigilant, learning to "make-do" with one parent 98% of the time, not feeling bad when Mom has to attend Father/Daughter Teas, having to take Mom's advice on Little League issues (what do women know anyway?), trying not to be in awe when Mom can fix the broken sink (when did she learn to do that?), being asked a hundred questions every time Dad comes home, even though the incidents are long over with, strong arms wrapped around you, spontaneous hugs and kisses. This section of the Zeitner website is dedicated to the family behind the drivers; the trials, tribulations and successes; the exceptions, allowances and sacrifices that must be made in order to maintain a semblance of a normal life. Hopefully you'll find something here (drivers and family both) to help meet the demands of "life on the road..." Well and Healthy Woman, published by Food
Sciences Corporation, is an online magazine serving women who want to
create and sustain balance within their lives, especially during body
image transformations. Well and Healthy Woman emphasizes women’s
health, physical and emotional wellness, nutrition and weight management.
The magazine also focuses on family health and wellness, recognizing that
women are catalysts for healthy living among their partners, children,
teens and young adults, and older adults within the extended family... We would be remiss if we did not include women's health
in this area. Breast cancer is one of the leading killers of women
in America and on this page you will find important information that could
save your life. Please take the time to look and read and educate
yourself about you own health. You will also find pictorial
instructions on conducting a breast self-examination... Lord knows, truck drivers speak their own language, especially when they are talking on their C.B. radios. Maybe this dictionary will help with the translation... Truck Talk Dictionary
Consider this a mini education on how to safely co-exist with truck
drivers on the highway... Here is a
letter I ran across on another website and since it had such a strong
message, I had to include it here... |
