Think drivin' a truck is a pud job, riding around, seeing the country, being your own boss, making the big bucks?  I've heard tell that it doesn't take a lot of smarts to be a driver-this is the job for guys that can't do anything else.  Think again.  Take a look at just a few of the "fun" things a driver experiences every day...

is the agency of the Department of Transportation that sets forth the code of rules and regulations that governs the trucking industry.  Section 49 is the Code of Safety Regulations.   Of particular interest to the driver are the following areas:

Part 383:  CDL standards, requirements and penalties
Part 391:  Qualifications of Drivers
Part 395:  Hours of Service of Drivers

Although I found it an impossibility to find current statistics for the trucking industry, (two years is the best I could do), I did come up with some interesting tidbits of information.  Most of it is of no possible use, but I figured a driver or two would enjoy the trivia.  Hey!  You can astound fellow drivers with your brilliance...Odds & Ends
